The event, which aims to promote cultural diversity, social empowerment, creativity, and innovation, will take place under the theme 'Where the Arts Begin'.According to festival founder Sylvester Shapwa, it was launched in 2019 to promote and celebrate Namibia's rich culture, as well as create a platform for entrepreneurs and source local talent.It also aims to culturally educate Namibians through social creativity and innovation, he says.Shapwa says the festival strives to bring young entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises closer to the people to showcase their cultural activities and innovative products, while at the same time assisting sponsors and corporations to build their brands and empower the youth.Due to Covid-19, the festival did not take place for the past two years.This year's event has attracted about 20 exhibitors, Shapwa says.The festival will feature different activities and competitions, starting with a talent show called 'Show Your Talent', taking place tonight.Tomorrow will see a fireworks event, while Friday is music night, with performances from different local artists and cultural groups.Saturday will see a cooking competition.Miss and Mr Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival will be crowned on Sunday, and there will also be an eating competition.Different sport activities and tournaments will be hosted throughout the festival.Shapwa says they have teamed up with the Namibian Police and the City Police to ensure revellers are protected.
