The Keetmanshoop municipal council has elected Swapo councillor Emrico Blaauw as the town’s new mayor.
Beata Set has been elected as deputy mayor.
The election follows Landless People’s Movement mayor Melody Swartbooi’s recall in June.
The election was held during a council meeting on Friday that also saw Kallan Goliath sworn in to replace Swartbooi as LPM councillor.
The municipality congratulated Blaauw, Set and Goliath.
