Sanlam opens office at Katima

SANLAM Namibia has opened a new, fully fledged office at Katima Mulilo on Friday.

The new office is part of the company’s focus of the ‘client first’, which puts their clients first in all aspects.

Speaking at the official opening, Sanlam group chief Tertius Stears said after numerous requests for an office at the north-eastern town, they finally heard the cries of their clients, and responded positively by opening the office.

Before this office was opened, the closest Sanlam office to Katima Mulilo was located at Rundu, which is over 500 kilometres away.

The new Sanlam office, therefore, means the company is better able to serve clients and potential clients faster, efficiently and effectively.

Stears added that while this is the first Sanlam office at Katima Mulilo, the company has a long history with the town through its various corporate social responsibility projects, including the Sanlam ‘My Culture My Life’ roadshow, which took place in the Zambezi region last year.

To further cement this good relationship, Sanlam responded positively to a request for calculators by Kanono Combined School. The calculators will be used by pupils during mathematics lessons as well as during examinations.

Katima Mulilo mayor Georgina Mwiya-Simataa welcomed Sanlam to the town, and said clients and potential clients no longer have to travel far for services. The mayor added that she was grateful to the company for opening the new office, which has created employment for some young people in the town.

In a statement read on his behalf by the deputy chairperson of the National Council, Bernhard Sibalatani, Zambezi regional governor Lawrence Sampofu said he was excited about the projects that will come to the region. He added that as part of its corporate social responsibility, Sanlam plans to invest in the town and the region at large.

He further congratulated Sanlam for responding to people’s pleas and opening the office, saying it was long overdue.

Recently, Sanlam also opened an office at Outapi, and plans are at an advanced stage to open one in Katutura in Windhoek.
