BOBBY Samaria was appointed as Tigers head coach, the club announced on Friday.
The former African Stars mentor has been handed a two-season deal and is seen as the right man to turn the club into title winners. Samaria will be assisted by a technical team consisting of Dino Ballotti, who will be the team’s assistant coach, Mario Carrera ‘and others’.’Samaria is one of Namibia’s most successful football personalities, both as player and coach, and we are confident that we have the right man for the job to propel the team into genuine title contenders during the forthcoming football season,’ the club said in its statement in reference to Samaria’s spell in charge at African Stars. Samaria won back-to-back titles and also one NFA Cup between 2008 and 2010 with Starlile. Tigers have regularly finished amongst the top sides in Namibia Premier League for the past four seasons. However failure to win any noteworthy silverware since the mid-1990s has led to several high-profile sackings in recent times. This is a fact Samaria will no doubt be aware of. ‘The executive committee of the Tigers Sports Club will provide all the support required by Bobby Samaria and technical team to ensure success in the shortest possible time,’ the club said.
