SA star Paige to drop new album in Namibia

SOUTH African artist Paige Mbanjwa, who is launching her new album at Club London in Windhoek on Saturday, says the amazing support she has received from Namibian fans is the reason she decided to celebrate her latest milestone in Namibia.

The new album brings a new intimate atmosphere and is based on how she is grounded in spirituality and her relationship with God and is going to show her ultimate stage evangelist.

“I’m not even trying to make people love me for prayer, but I love to pray and you have to fast. Prayer is the foundation of everything.”

The songbird, who is also famous for her song ‘Khanyisa’ as well as run-away success ‘Ghanama (Angifuni Umjolo)’, also recently launched her single titled ‘Phakade’ in Namibia, which has become her home and the positive reviews are what brought her back again.

“I know some people would say she is not doing it in her own country, but this is home and I launched my new single here a couple of months ago. And I saw the positive response, so I thought why not launch it in Namibia. Namibians are very supportive. I love Namibia, jokes aside. I love my country, it is my roots but I believe that I have got more support here – You know Africa as a whole has supported me, but reason to launch here was that I feel accepted here and I felt I owe these people,” she says.

She has also made a song with Namibia’s Gazza and although he is yet to decide on the title, it is a love song.

“It’s a love song that has a lot of surprises.”

“He texted me three months ago and at the time I was touring other countries so I told him I will come back for the project. So, when we came back we went to his house and it was awesome. I did not even know the guy was so big, I know some of his songs and his brand, so this is like an honour,” she says.

Gazza praised Paige as a true artist who is humble and down to earth.

“She’s very spiritual and believes every word she writes down, a true reminder that music is spiritual and connects to people on a deeper level. She’s a true artist, humble and down to earth and her talent is just a bonus to the person she already is. As for the song, I can’t say much about it because it’s not done yet and there’s a surprise Namibian twist to it. All I can say is that it’s different from what she normally does,” Gazza says.
