RFA to write off N$317 million in licence fee debt

The Road Fund Administration (RFA) has decided to write off a N$317-million debt in licence fees owed by vehicle owners.

RFA chief executive Ali Ipinge says those with licence fee debt older than three years will receive a complete write-off of the debt.

Those with debt younger than three years can apply for a waiver of the interest and penalties. He was speaking during a press briefing in Windhoek.

“The intention of this amendment is to clean up the debt accumulation after 15 years of accumulation. The road users can start to apply as of today (Wednesday),” said Ipinge.

He said some of these debts came as a result of people dying, companies closing or just financial struggles people are facing.

He added that the RFA will launch a campaign to support the roll out and ensure everyone is aware.
