Repo rate unchanged

The Bank of Namibia has decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5% for the next two months.

Speaking during the announcement yesterday, central bank governor Johannes !Gawaxab said the decision was taken to safeguard the currency with South Africa.

“To continue safeguarding the peg between the Namibia dollar and the South African rand, while supporting the domestic economy, the monetary policy committee decided to keep the repo rate unchanged,” he said.
