THE Rally for Democracy and Progress will build a formidable legacy through development, poverty eradication and the building of schools if voted into power during the 28 November elections.
The RDP will also critically look into the areas of health, sanitation, housing and roads infrastructure as a matter of priority.
RDP president Hidipo Hamutenya said this when addressing party members, supporters and sympathisers during an election campaign rally at the Oshakati Independence Stadium in the Oshana region on Saturday.
“Leaders with no vision leave a legacy of monuments, buildings and corruption,” Hamutenya told his audience.
He said the RDP has a strong team of capable leaders, from all corners of the country, who can improve the government of the country.
These leaders, Hamutenya said, were freedom fighters and formed part of the successes of the Namibian government.
He singled out leaders such as Jesaya Nyamu, Kandy Nehova, Festus Naholo, Jeremiah Nambinga, Agnes Limbo, Ellen Musialela and Libolly Haufiku as being freedom fighters.
“Peter Naholo was a People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (Plan) fighter so was my wife Nangula Hamutenya, who was one of the first three women combatants in Plan,” Hamutenya revealed.
The RDP leader went on to say it is a well-known fact that there are many more members within his political party who played a pivotal part in the liberation of Namibia.
“So what are they (Swapo Party leaders) talking about when they boast to have liberated this country? That’s a joke! We all liberated Namibia and we never wavered until the country was liberated,” Hamutenya charged. He referred to himself as a short man from Odibo village, who is well-known by the former Swapo party president Sam Nujoma, President Hifikepunye Pohamba and the Swapo party presidential candidate Hage Geingob, who all know that he can deliver.
“That is why they keep on calling on us to come back to Swapo. We do not believe in a one-party state and we will remain firm and committed to the RDP,” Hamutenya declared.
He promised that an RDP government will make sure that the youth and women, who form the majority of the population, will participate fully in the development of the country. – Nampa
