CRIME BRIEFS

A Nine-Year-Old girl was allegedly raped by three suspects at Eenhana on Friday afternoon.

This was announced by national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the weekend crime report released yesterday.

“It is alleged that the suspects found the minor walking alone, grabbed her, pushed her to the ground and raped her,” she said.

No arrests have been made and police investigations continue.

In a separate incident at Lüderitz, a 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman in the early hours of Sunday.

Shikwambi said the suspect, the victim and the victim’s boyfriend had been consuming alcohol together before going to sleep.

“At around 03h00, the suspect allegedly removed the boyfriend from the bed and raped the victim while she believed it was her partner,” she said.

The victim later realised what had happened after switching on the light.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. Investigations continue.

At Dordabis, the police are searching for a suspect in his early 40s who allegedly broke into a woman’s house and raped her.

“It is alleged the suspect strangled the 48-year-old victim and raped her before fleeing the scene.

He also threatened to kill her if she reported the matter,” Shikwambi said.

The suspect, who is reportedly related to the victim, remains at large.

INQUEST

The police also recorded several inquest cases. At Ongwediva, the body of a 28-year-old Angolan man, suspected to have taken his life, was found on Saturday morning.

“No suicide note was found and no foul play is suspected,” Shikwambi said.

Similar incidents were reported at Outjo, where a 43-year-old man was found dead, and in Katutura, where the body of 29-year-old man, who had been missing since earlier in the week was found.

Both men are suspected to have taken their own lives.

In a separate case, the police seized cannabis valued at N$5.45 million at the Noordoewer border post on Friday.

“The suspect fled after officials detected drugs concealed in the vehicle,” Shikwambi said. No arrests have been made in that matter and investigations continue.
