Ramblers remained at the top of the Namibia Premier League log after beating Blue Waters 4-1 on Saturday.
Ramblers were just too slick for the struggling coastal team and had already run up a 4-0 lead at the break. John Samson opened the scoring when he converted a penalty in the 9th minute after Pinias Jacob was fouled in the box.Samson scored his second goal six minutes later from a goalmouth scramble and further goals by Pinias Jacob and Jermemia Baisako gave Ramblers a 4-0 lead at half-time.Jacob was sent off early in the second half for a dangerous foul on Blue Waters keeper Charles Uirab, but Blue Waters failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage.Kenny Malgas managed to grab a goal back for Blue Waters in the 74th minute with a classy goal, when he expertly controlled a high centre to stab the ball past Ramblers keeper Lukas Hashiti. But Blue Waters’ frustration grew as they could not break through Ramblers’ defence and towards the end of the match defender Fisher Kalimba was red carded for a dangerous foul on Raymond Awaseb.Cymot SKW remained second after beating Fedics United 2-0.Arend von Stryk opened the scoring when he slammed in a pass from Patrick Jagger just before halftime, while Jagger scored the second with a fine shot from the edge of the box in the 78th minute.”We didn’t play very well and it was a scrappy game. But luckily we won and at least we know we can do much better,” SKW assistant coach Rolf Beiter said.ISAACKS OFF TO WINNING START Orlando Pirates’ new coach Brian Isaacks got off to a winning start when they beat Oshakati City 2-0.Chepela Chepela put them ahead when he pounced on to a loose ball in the box on 57 minutes and Eric Aoseb made it 2-0 10 minutes later when he headed in a corner. It was a fine performance by Pirates, who now move up to third position on the log, six points behind Ramblers.Black Africa dropped down to fourth position after drawing 1-all against Tigers on Friday night.Tigers dominated the first half and took the lead through a great volley by Nico Narib.BA coach Smedley Engelbrecht brought on Bryan Bantam and Donovan Swartz as substitutes after the break and they combined well as Bantam scored BA’s equaliser.Civics scored an important 2-1 away win against Eleven Arrows in Walvis Bay.Sheya Andimba gave Arrows an early lead but two goals by Floris Diergaardt in the 35th and 70th minutes gave Civics the victory.Civics move up to fifth position while Arrows move down to sixth position on the log.”The conditions were not good as it was very windy, but our players showed great character to come back from a goal down.It was a great team performance,” Civics’ manager Paul Stramis said.African Stars beat Mighty Gunners 3-1 through goals by Brouwers Litombo, Silver Suriyari and Nico Andima.Stars’ coach Gilbert Rwasoka was however not too impressed with their performance.”I’m happy with the three points, but I’m not happy with our position on the log.We dropped down the log after losing two matches away at the coast and we need to improve our log position soon,” he said. That will be a tough call as their next match is against log leaders Ramblers on Friday night.Namibia SportJohn Samson opened the scoring when he converted a penalty in the 9th minute after Pinias Jacob was fouled in the box.Samson scored his second goal six minutes later from a goalmouth scramble and further goals by Pinias Jacob and Jermemia Baisako gave Ramblers a 4-0 lead at half-time.Jacob was sent off early in the second half for a dangerous foul on Blue Waters keeper Charles Uirab, but Blue Waters failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage.Kenny Malgas managed to grab a goal back for Blue Waters in the 74th minute with a classy goal, when he expertly controlled a high centre to stab the ball past Ramblers keeper Lukas Hashiti. But luckily we won and at least we know we can do much better,” SKW assistant coach Rolf Beiter said.
