It is not only cyclists in the mountain bike and road bike races who stand to win prizes at The Namibian Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Classic 2014 taking place in Windhoek on Saturday and Sunday. Spectators who make their way to the Doc Jubber Sports Grounds in Olympia will also be eligible to win prizes.
The grand prize is a voucher for two nights for two adults at any of the Gondwana Lodges. Hakusembe River Lodge, Namushasha River Lodge, Canyon Lodge, Damara Mopani Lodge and Etosha Safari Lodge are a few of the world class accommodation establishments in the Gondwana Collection.
Another mouth watering prize on offer is a Scott Speedster bicycle donated by Cymot that normally retails for N$11 300.
Although prize money of N$60 000 can only be won by cyclists racing in the various distance categories of the mountain bike race tomorrow or the road bike race on Sunday, entry to the lucky draw is open to everyone.
The only requirement to win the Gondwana Collection voucher, Cymot’s bike or one of the other prizes, is coming to the venue of Cycle Classic to enter the lucky draw, producing a valid ID card for identification purposes and being present at Doc Jubber Sports Grounds when the draw is conducted on Sunday, 12 October at 12 noon.
Kid’s entertainment will be laid on for both days of The Namibian Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Classic. For spectators and supporters of cyclists there will also be an expo and for early Christmas shopping, a craft market.
Comprised of three events, a mountain bike race, Kiddies Classic and a road bike race, The Namibian Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Classic is a community service fund raising event of Rotary Club Windhoek. All funds raised are used to support Rotary’s community service projects, programmes and needy causes, not only in Windhoek, but elsewhere in Namibia too.
Meanwhile, the organisers announced that the starting time of Saturday’s Mountain Bike race has been moved from 09h00 to 08h00. Sunday’s road race will also start at 08h00 at the Doc Jubber Hockey Fields in Olympia.
