The police confiscated drugs worth N$617 475, including cannabis, mandrax and crack cocaine, in June.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi on Wednesday said the police arrested 153 suspects during this month.
This number comprises 148 Namibians, one Angolan, one Congolese and three Zambian nationals.
Shikwambi said the police have confiscated cannabis weighing 55 545,53kg worth N$555,455, 396 mandrax tablets worth N$47 520, and 145 units of crack cocaine worth N$14 500.
“The use of drugs has become so prevalent in our society, and this is seriously threatening the future of many young Namibians,” she said.
Shikwambi said this is because they are vulnerable and easily lured into criminal activities.
“The use of drugs is illegal and must therefore be reported. A two-day campaign in this regard is scheduled to take place at Otjiwarongo,” she said.
