Police commissioner injured in Namdia heist

Namibian Police head of forensics commissioner Nelius Becker was allegedly injured when he fell from the roof of the Namib Desert Diamonds (Namdia) building during a robbery on Saturday.

Becker allegedly broke both his ankles while searching for suspects on the roof during the diamond heist.

Deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi on Sunday confirmed that a robbery involving four suspects occurred on Saturday at Namdia’s premises on the corner of Sam Nujoma Drive and Dr Kwame Nkrumah Street in Windhoek, between 17h00 and 18h00.

Two suspects are currently in police custody.

Speaking to The Namibian on Tuesday, deputy inspector general Elias Mutota said he was not aware of Becker’s injuries.
