Phala Phala trial set to start on Monday

The trial of Imanuwela David, Froliana Joseph and Ndilinasho Joseph, who are accused in connection with a break-in and theft at South African president Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm, is set to start on Monday, 15 September, at the Modimolle Regional Court in South Africa.

This was confirmed by Limpopo provincial National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi on Sunday.

She said the trio face several charges, including counts of conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, two counts of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, and, in the case of Imanuwela David, a charge of money laundering.

Malabi said the prosecution is ready to proceed.

“The prosecution intends to call 22 witnesses during the trial,” she said.

Malabi added that the trial is scheduled to continue on 15, 17 and 30 September, and again on 1, 3, 6, 7 and 8 October.
