Pajero Sport turns heads

World-renowned for their off-road vehicles, such as the Triton, Pajero and the Pajero Sport, the brand comes with a trustworthy, reliable engine associated with the Japanese technology. But Mitsubishi's roots go much deeper than just 4x4s, dating back more than 150 years to when it started in the ship building industry. Today, Mitsubishi is a conglomerate involved in trading, banking, earth moving equipment and chemicals. Top Revs has a lengthy relationship with the brand stretching several years, multiple test drives and even 4×4 training events which show owners all they need to know about off-road driving. “The 2.4L Mitsubishi innovative valve electronic control technology keeps the car's revolutions to the optimum to avoid the Pajero getting lazy while driving,” says sales manager Andre van der Merwe. The car comes with a 2,4 diesel 8-speed gearbox that offers any Mitsubishi owner, be it the 5-door SUV or the LDV Triton, sheer power and driving pleasure. The Pajero Sport can seat a driver and up to six passengers, and with the seats in the rear compartment stowed away, it makes for a spacious travel companion. Safety comes standard, with the car fitted with the reinforced impact safety evolution system to absorb any impact. To complement the safety system, the car is fitted with a 7 SRS airbag system which protects the car's occupants in case of an accident. “No one buys a car to be involved in an accident,” Van der Merwe said. “However, if it happens, Mitsubishi put all safety measures into place to mitigate the impact.” The Super Select II 4WD system is unique to the brand and enhances off-road driving, regardless of the terrain, as the driver can select either two wheel drive or all wheel drive while driving on gravel roads and not exceeding a speed of a 100K/h. When driving on gravel roads, many drivers are not aware that they can make use of their 4WD in low high range for better traction and control. Contrary to the belief that automatic gearboxes are not made for off-road vehicles, the opposite is true as the gearbox continuously selects the correct gear without the engine stalling, unlike manual cars that often land inexperienced drivers in some difficulty. The auto gearbox also assists the driver to relax more, while enjoying the scenery when off-roading, especially in mountainous areas. The car is fitted with everything one needs to enhance driver's comfort, like reverse cameras, which make manoeuvring in tight spaces easy, as well as active stability and traction control, to mention a few. Production of the Pajero Sport started in 1996, and it remains a capable vehicle both on and off-road, offering an ideal family car, while at the same time catering for those with a sense of adventure who are also safe in the knowledge they will get back home in one piece. Owners can fit aftermarket accessories like bull bars, nudge bars, tow bars and other off-road toys which can make your next camping experience one for the books, however, always make sure you discuss this with the dealer, as some aftermarket fittings may jeopardise your car's warranty.
