Oshana governor Hofni Iipinge has called for the urgent development of a dual carriageway between Oshakati and Ondangwa.
Delivering his state of the region address at Oshakati on Monday, Iipinge said the region’s existing road infrastructure is under mounting pressure due to urbanisation, population growth and expanding economic activities.
“The region, therefore, calls for accelerated investment in priority road infrastructure, including the upgrading of key district roads and the eventual development of a dual carriageway between Oshakati and Ondangwa,” he said.
Iipinge said the proposed project has become increasingly important as the corridor continues to grow into a major commercial and administrative hub serving northern Namibia.
He noted that improved road infrastructure would be critical in supporting economic growth and easing traffic congestion in the region.
