If you’re an avid Tate Buti fan, you would know that he recently dropped yet another banging album.
This is Tate Buti’s 10th solo album under the Omalaeti stable. The album, which is titled ‘Onete’, means a net in Oshiwambo and has a mix of different sounds as he collaborates with various acts, some from across borders.
On this 16-track album, Tate Buti features hikwa star Sunny boy, House Guru, Tesh, Dr Tawanda, who dominates most songs on the album, and Newturn, who is a regular on most of his albums.
Track one is titled ‘Baba’ and features Dr Tawanda. On this song, the pair sings of praising and respecting God. Although fast-paced, the message is quite clear.
On track two, Tate Buti features Newturn. ‘Lyonghaku’ in Oshiwambo means “to take the shoe by its sole and run”. Here he advises those in sticky situations to run.
Track four, the title track, speaks of a net that you need to catch something (or someone) with. As per usual, a provocative thought is thrown into the twist with ‘a classified love’.
“Tsutsurm tsumstum” is what you’ll be singing long after listening to ‘Iyaloo’, track five on the album. The song talks about a girl who lacks discipline and is thrown by everything that comes her way.
‘Nombili’, track six, features Sunny Boy and has a mix of hikwa and shambo. Upon seeing Sunny Boy’s name on the album, I was hype to hear what would make it different and it is indeed the feel-good song of the album.
‘Zokaikumba’, track eight, features Dr Tawanda yet again. This is a song to look out for as it gets you in a dancing mood for the many Saturdays that 2017 will bring.
Tate Buti ends off the album with ‘Ihatudimbwa’, where he sings of how he will never forget where he comes from.
The album, which will only be sold digitally, is available on iTunes and Laetistore at laetistore.com. For more information, call 061 402 102.
