NSFAF calls on debtors to settle loans, upgrade accounts

Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) acting chief executive Kennedy Kandume is calling on all the fund’s debtors to ensure their loan accounts are paid up.

“We urge all debtors to settle their loan accounts to avoid any negative implications,” he says.

The NSFAF on Thursday announced it would start submitting the credit performance data of its debtors to licensed credit bureaus in Namibia, effective from July.

Kandume says credit bureau regulations of 2014 required that credit performance data be submittes to registered credit bureaus.

This promotes transparency, accountability, and responsible credit practices within the financial sector, he says.

“This means both current and former students with NSFAF loans will be affected, including those with unmatured loans who are still studying.”

Debtors are encouraged to contact the NSFAF regarding their loan status, he says.

The NSFAF provides financial assistance to eligible Namibians in the form of loans and grants to facilitate access to tertiary education.
