NMC waives age restriction on supplements and multivitamins

TO reduce financial burdens, The Namibia Medical Care (NMC) has waived fund rule 1. 11. on Annexure C, allowing members to obtain vitamins, multivitamins, and vitamin combinations from the Acute Medicine benefit, regardless of age.

The waiving of the fund rule has been effective since 1 July. 

Members can claim from the acute medicine benefit, subject to the following conditions:

• A prescription is required from a medical practitioner;

• In the event there is no prescription, the supplements and multivitamins can be claimed from the self-medication benefit; subject to available benefits and the member’s benefit option;

• Only one month’s supply is allowed at a given time.

The waiving of the fund rule is only temporary while the Covid-19 pandemic is ongoing and ex-gratia does not apply to vitamins, multivitamins, and vitamin combinations.
