The Namibia Boxing Federation (NABF) hosted an induction workshop for its new executive committee in Windhoek on Saturday.
The workshop was facilitated by Mathew Haikali and Isack Hamata, both seasoned sport administrators with extensive knowledge and experience in governance and sport management.
The boxing federation’s secretary general, Petrus Kashango, said the workshop was insightful.
“The induction was to welcome the members and introduce them to NABF policies and procedures,” Kashango said.
“It gave them the federation rules and ensured they understand the NABF’s primary roles in amateur boxing. The discussion included boxing developments, marketing, stakeholders, strategic plans and sponsorship,” he said.
Following the workshop, the board convened its executive meeting and announced the appointment of the new NABF executive committee members.
“During the workshop, key discussions were held on the importance of an effective board and the necessity of establishing sub-committees to enhance the organisation’s operations,” Haikali said.
“The insightful presentations provided valuable guidance to the newly elected leadership as they embark on their responsibilities.
“These appointments mark a significant step in strengthening the leadership and operational efficiency of the Federation,” he said.
The appointments include Immanuel Hamukwaya as vice president, Joel Ngungu as spokesperson, Petrus Kashango as secretary general, Trefina Shivolo as treasurer, Lysias Hangula as the head of referees and judges, Selma Shikukumwa as the deputy head, Israel Hamutumbangela as the head of coaches, Martin Shipindo as deputy, Tangeni Amuthenu as medical executive member and head of competition, Joel Ngungu as legal adviser, and Johanna Angwena as the head of women in boxing.
“These individuals bring a wealth of experience and dedication to their respective roles and will be instrumental in advancing the federation’s vision.
“Their leadership will be essential in promoting growth, enhancing boxing development, and ensuring the continued success of Namibian athletes on both national and international stages.
“The NABF congratulates the newly appointed executive members and looks forward to their contributions in furthering the sport of boxing in Namibia.”
