THE former president of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi, and the Chairman of the Namibian Manufacturers’ Association (NMA), Koos Ferreira, last week signed an agreement in Windhoek, undertaking to form a strategic alliance to work together to strengthen and improve the performance of the private sector.
According to this agreement, the NCCI is recognised as the representative of the private business sector of Namibia and the NMA as the representative of the manufacturing sector. The two associations undertook to develop the capacity of their members through training and monitoring to develop their business management skills, to work together in the exchange of general business data and in developing a conducive business environment for their members and the Namibian private sector in general.Both organisations recognise the need to provide mutual support to one another in submissions and negotiations with Government and other relevant bodies, as well as in foreign trade and other negotiations for the benefit of their members.The associations also undertook to provide representation for one another on their respective boards, as well as on other representative organisations where required.The MoU came into force on June 1 2008.The two associations undertook to develop the capacity of their members through training and monitoring to develop their business management skills, to work together in the exchange of general business data and in developing a conducive business environment for their members and the Namibian private sector in general.Both organisations recognise the need to provide mutual support to one another in submissions and negotiations with Government and other relevant bodies, as well as in foreign trade and other negotiations for the benefit of their members.The associations also undertook to provide representation for one another on their respective boards, as well as on other representative organisations where required.The MoU came into force on June 1 2008.
