Likius Nande and Sesilia Nkosi were the overall winners of the Gold Cup that was held at the Windhoek Golf Club over the weekend.
Nande completed the 36-hole event with a gross score of 135, after rounds of 67 and 68, to win the men’s overall best gross award, while Nkosi won the women’s overall best gross award with a score of 166 after two rounds of 83 each.
Gelson Gideon won the men’s overall best nett award with a total of 136 after rounds of 69 and 67 while Jolene van Schoor won the women’s overall best nett award with a total of 136 (67, 69).
In the men’s A division, Christopher Durant had the best gross score of 142 (68, 74), while Kasoma Paulino came second with a total of 149 (77, 72).
Jayson Zulch had the best nett score of 145 (75, 70), while Danie van Schoor was the runner-up with a total of 148 (72, 76).
In the men’s B division, John Chadyiwa had the best gross score of 161 (82, 79), while Joseph Martin was runner-up with a total of 167 (84, 83).
Melt van Schoor had the best nett total of 141 (68, 73), while Wisdom Moyo finished runner up with 145 (68, 76).
In the men’s C division Gustav Jung had the best gross score of 182 (92, 90), while Bonifatius Paulino came second with 187 (88, 99).
Dawid Blaauw had the best nett score of 141 (72, 69) while Ian Wood came second on 154 (75, 79).
Dian Holland-Muter had the best gross score in the men’s junior division with a total of 165 (86, 79).
The nearest the pin winners were Matheus Buys on the third hole, Jackson Kawaya on the ninth hole, Kasoma Paulino on the 13th hole, and Likius Nande on the 17th hole.
Toady Gurirab, the Windhoek Golf Club captain, thanked the course marshall Trevor Andreas; the management team for keeping the course in excellent condition; as well as the kitchen and bar staff, the green keepers and the Pros shop. Gurirab also thanked Callaway, which sponsored the nearest the pin prizes.
A total of 55 players competed in the tournament which was held over two days.
