The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has extended the deadline for filing tax returns from 30 June to 31 August.
NamRA’s chief of strategic communications and support engagements, Steven Ndorokaze, says that the extension is necessary because some of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) functions remain affected, despite progress in restoring key services. He states that the technical problems reported earlier this month have led to improvements. Ndorokaze says these improvements have helped stabilise the system, but some users may still experience occasional slowdowns and delays when processing certain tax returns.
Ndorokaze statex that salaried employees do not need to upload PAYE certificates when filing tax returns because their employers have already submitted the information. Ndorokaze says taxpayers claiming deductions for pension, annuity or study policy contributions, however, must upload supporting PAYE documents from their fund administrators.
