NATIONAL power utility NamPower has suspended its managing director, Paulinus Shilamba, last night over alleged tender irregularities.
Sources said Shilamba was among three top executives who were suspended in connection with tender irregularities at the power utility.
This development came after a report by The Namibian on Wednesday about a forensic audit.
The Namibian reported that Shilamba and two senior officials were implicated in an investigation which confirmed that the power utility spent N$30 million on a contract that was only supposed to cost N$2 million.
The other two suspended officials are chief technical services officer O’Brien Hekandjo and senior manager for energy trading, Werner Graupe.
Efforts to get comment from Shilamba were not successful while phone calls to NamPower chair Maria Nakale were not answered this morning.
