NAMIBIANS will get the opportunity to upgrade their skills when the Fifa Member Association (MA) NFA level B Goalkeeper’s Course gets underway at Soccer House next week.
According to the NFA education officer Timothy Tjongarero, the course will be conducted by Mamelodi Sundowns and Fifa keeper coach Alejandro Heredia.’This course will be a step up from the C licence goalkeepers course that Ronnie Kanalelo, an NFA goalkeeper training officer, conducted last year and we are glad to have Alejandro coming,’ said Tjongarero.Heredia will be assisted by NFA technical director Klaus Starke as Kanalelo is unable to make the trip to Namibia. The course runs from next Monday to Friday ‘Ronnie is unable to be released by his club Maritzburg United in South Africa and so Stark will be around to assist this hugely experienced and qualified Heredia,’ explained Tjongarero. The attendants – expected to be over 20 from the Namibia Premier league and First Division clubs as well as regional football – will be taken through the laws of the game as well as study and analyse DVDs on goalkeeping. They will be taken through the Fifa 2010 World Cup technical reports, with special emphasis on goalkeeper positioning and related matters. The participants will also be presented with a Fifa Eleven+ complete warm-up set used for preventing injuries. Among the participants are: Lydia Eixas, Susan Eises ( Brave Gladiators), Donald Shikongo (Mighty Gunners), Herman January (SKW), Sparks Gotlieb (African Stars), Tiro Thalabanelo (Ramblers ), David Ali (NDF), Heribert Kapeng (Pirates), and Buffalo Tjituka (Tura Magic).
