Kitchen 82 is a unique concept space located in Windhoek at Namib Mills’ head office.
The space hosts interactive dining experiences and cooking classes, and was created to showcase Namib Mills’ and Namib Poultry’s products, which have been developed and manufactured since 1982.
This innovation offers members of the public a professional environment to expand their culinary skills and doubles up as a venue for functions, innovation centre marketing manager Karen Kirsten says.
Kitchen 82’s tagline, “For the love of food”, speaks for itself.
“And that is our promise to the public – to create a love for food,” Kirsten says. Namib Mills prides itself in creating platforms to uplift Namibians, and focuses on the importance of small and medium enterprise (SME) development, creating sustainable livelihoods for all.
“This was also our driving force and success factor with our Bakpro vetkoek training, which is ongoing, and more recently our ‘RealGood Kapana’ training,” she says.
Kitchen 82 will provide members of the public the necessary skills to become an entrepreneur in their own right, she says.
“With Kitchen 82 we’ve expanded our already existing involvement with SME development and upliftment, and we’re honoured to now add to this base,” Kirsten says.
The innovation will offer a wide range of classes and courses, such as themed cooking classes, standard cooking classes and master chef classes.
Kirsten says Kitchen 82 will also offer children’s baking and birthday parties, giving children a hands-on cooking experience while making their own party food.
The new addition to Namib Mills will be available to hire for pop-up events, event prepping and food-styling photo shoots, Kirsten says.
