Mouers to Release Debut Afrikaans EP

Local singer-songwriter Salvador Mouers will release his debut Afrikaans EP, ‘Binne’, on Saturday, following his selection as the first Namibian artist for the ATKV-Crescendo mentorship programme.

The initiative is run by the Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurvereniging (ATKV) in South Africa, and identifies and supports emerging Afrikaans musicians.

The EP’s release follows a live pre-launch performance at Walvis Bay on Friday last week, during which Mouers performed songs from the project. The event aimed to build up to the official release later this month.

The project will also be presented at the ‘Kosmos Fees’, where Mouers is expected to showcase his new material to a wider audience.

Mouers said the performance reflected his journey over the past year.

“Tonight was the result of everything that has happened since last year. This was a big moment for me. I had a good time performing and seeing the support from the audience,” he said.

As part of the EP roll-out, Mouers has released a single titled ‘Slaan My Binne’, which is available on digital platforms.

He says he wrote the song for his wife.

Mouers has been active in the local music industry for more than a decade.

He previously performed in groups including Contagious Africa and Brazze Vani Mic, before going solo.

In 2017, he released an album titled ‘Everything’, which received two nominations at the Namibian Annual Music Awards.

He later moved into gospel music, which he said reflects his personal beliefs and experiences.

His selection into the ATKV-Crescendo programme in 2025 marked a new phase in Mouers’ career, leading to the production and release of ‘Binne’.

The EP is expected to be available on streaming platforms from 25 April.
