Motorists cautioned about construction on B1 road

MOTORISTS using the B1 road have been cautioned to drive carefully when entering Otjiwarongo from the north as construction is being carried out on the traffic circle.

The Namibian Police’s Otjozondjupa regional police commander, commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze on Wednesday said in a media statement that heavy construction work is being carried out on the section of the B1 road connecting to Dr Hage Geingob Avenue, which has been closed since Tuesday morning.

“We are calling on you to be extra cautious when entering Otjiwarongo from Otavi as the traffic circle is being rehabilitated. Please adhere to the traffic rules. All traffic movement is being detoured before the circle for a duration of over four months,” said Tjiveze.

The police commander especially warned tourists, public transport long distance drivers and truck drivers passing through Otjiwarongo to pay attention to the signs that have been erected.

“We also urge all motorists to be patient and to slow down when approaching the construction site in order to avoid unnecessary accidents,” he said.
