VILLAGERS at Onalunike in the Oshikoto Region say a ‘miracle’ happened in their area on Sunday when one person died and another one was born at the same time and place.
One of the villagers, Maria Mulunga, told The Namibian that an 18-year-old youth was run over by a car while crossing the road with his cattle near the Onalunike cuca shops. He died on the spot.At precisely the same time, some people at the cuca shops were assisting a young woman who was in labour. The woman had walked from a remote village to the main road near Onalunike to get a lift to Onandjokwe Hospital, but her labour started before she could make it to the hospital.Local people helped her into one of the cuca shops, where she gave birth to a baby girl. The Okatope Police were called to remove the body of the accident victim while an ambulance took the woman and her baby to the nearby Okatope clinic.”It was really a miracle – one left the Earth and one came to Earth,” said Mulunga.Police at Okatope confirmed the two incidents yesterday. The young man who was hit by the car has been named as Tuhafeni Hamukwaya (18), a cattle herder.Mother and baby are doing well and have returned home.He died on the spot.At precisely the same time, some people at the cuca shops were assisting a young woman who was in labour. The young man who was hit by the car has been named as Tuhafeni Hamukwaya (18), a cattle herder.Mother and baby are doing well and have returned home.
