Metropolitan premiers collection of client stories

Financial institution Metropolitan Namibia hosted a film premier on Monday. The film looks at how the brand has touched the everyday lives of Namibians across the country.

The short film, titled ‘The Story Of’, is a collection of client stories, bringing together clients and stakeholders.

Delivering the keynote address at the premier, deputy minister of education, innovation, youth, sport, arts and culture Dino Ballotti commended the company for investing in the local creative industry.

“When an enterprise chooses to invest across the local creative value chain, it shows what is achievable”, Ballotti said. “We must be unapologetic about corporate spend when it comes to empowering our own.”

Ballotti emphasised the importance of backing local storytellers as a key national asset.

“Namibia does not lack stories, nor do we lack talent, and most certainly we do not lack creativity. What we need is more opportunities and investment in the sector. When we invest in our stories, we invest in our identity. And when we invest in Namibians, we invest in the future of Namibia,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Momentum Metropolitan Namibia head of group marketing Denille Roostee said the team travelled directly into communities across the country to capture these personal accounts.

“We had no actors. The brief was very clear. No scripted testimonials”, Roostee said. “We wanted their truth. So, we went looking for stories. We literally packed our bags and drove until we found them. We went to our clients, into their homes, into their communities, into their lives.”

She said the project was designed to give clients an unscripted platform to speak in their own languages.

“As we travelled across Namibia to different towns, different communities, different lives, we let our clients speak in their language. Because if we were going to tell the Namibian story, it needed to look like Namibia, sound like Namibia and feel like Namibia,” she said.
