THE Ministry of Environment and Tourism chose the Hobatare Roadside Concession for the Ehirovipuka Conservancy as one of the sites to fulfil the Traversing Concession Performance Target.
The traversing concession was signed between the Ministry and the Ehirovipuka Conservancy for the Hobatere Roadside Concession on 23 February 2012, signalling a historic day for MCA Namibia’s tourism project, as a major performance target has been met.This concession will result in considerable benefits flowing to the Ehirovipuka Conservancy and its members, a potential tourism joint-venture agreement on a luxury lodge outside Etosha National Park to bring their guests into the park through the Galton Gate.Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah encouraged the Ehirovipuka Conservancy members to initiate projects that will bring economic benefits in order for them to be self-sustainable in the near future.Signing the agreement on behalf of the Ehirovipuka Conservancy, its chairperson Asser Ujaha said he was delighted to witness this occasion. ‘It has been a long journey to reach this point and we are going to work hard to attract potential investors to enable us to build a lodge in our conservancy in order to create jobs and other benefits to our community members in order to become self sustainable.’.The Ehirovipuka Conservancy is one of 31 potential conservancies that might benefit from MCA Namibia’s Conservancy Development Support Grants Facility.
