Mad About Rugby’s Hotties

There’s nothing like supporting your country’s rugby team as they perform, literally, in the World Cup! The fact that this very same World Cup showcases some fine male specimens doesn’t hurt either…We chat to a few of Namibia’s female hotties to find out about their World Cup crushes.

Ridiculously beautiful choreographer, lecturer, professional dancer and amateur sports enthusiast with zero rugby knowledge, Sascha Olivier-Sampson admits to never having watched a rugby match in its entirety. And though she doesn’t know all the hotties running, tackling and bleeding their way through the Rugby World Cup, she does find “the commitment, dedication, hard work and passion with which the rugby players apply themselves to the game and represent their countries, very attractive. And oh, beards are a bonus!”

The gorgeous Gaby Ahrens is a two-time Olympian, a Namibian athlete, a fitness babe and a driven business woman and while she doesn’t really follow rugby, she did watch the Welwitschias’ match against the All Blacks and felt so proud of our boys, particularly when they sang the national anthem.

“Goosebumps material!”

An athlete herself, Gaby is a supporter of all sports with Namibian athletes and will be watching all the RWC games Namibia plays. As for her Rugby World Cup hottie, no less than our very own captain Jacques Burger.

“He’s very masculine with all that hair!” says Gaby. “He has so much passion and dedication towards his people and his sport! That for me is very attractive! I will be rooting for no one else but our boys! Namibia, I am behind you 100%.”

As easy on the eyes as she is on the ears, radio talk show host, TV presenter, MC, passionista for life and avid supporter of all things that bring people together and get them cheering, Kirsty Watermeyer is watching the Rugby World Cup for the fun, the cheer and the camaraderie.

Asked about her RWC hottie, Kirsty finds the question a little tough “because there are some fine athletic specimens to admire in this year’s RWC.” That said her top pick is Craig Wing from Japan.

“But then there is also Giovanbattista Venditti from Italy, Matthew Morgan from Wales, Nemani Nadolo from Fiji…and the list goes on. The reasons why include muscles, sportsmanship and strength. What’s not to love about that?”

While Kirsty is certainly enthusiastic about admiring foreign physiques, the bubbly babe adds “Namibia will always be where I give my loudest and proudest support.”

Effortless beauty and media personality, Tashia Kalondo is all about the Rugby World Cup mainly because she is “sports mad, the Haka is more than enough to shake off the average hangover and truly a sight to behold, PT broeks aka short shorts make me laugh and I get to watch the Welwitschias not only play on an international stage but sing the proud and mighty verses of our national anthem”. Considering world cup hotties, Tashia has her eye on Johan Deysel, the Namibian player who scored the try against the All Blacks.

“What makes him so delicious? He scored a stunning try against the All Blacks!” As for who she will be supporting for the rest of the RWC, Tashia is firmly behind, the Springboks, the All Blacks and the Welwitschias.

Franlin Thomas is currently a station manager of the Afrikaans section at the news and programming department at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation. Well-versed in all things sports and journalism, Franlin can’t help but adore Dan Carter.

“If you really know me, you’d know that I’m a die-hard Welwitchias supporter, so just for the record, I want to state that all players in our national team are hot! But my kinda hot in the Rugby World Cup is Dan Carter. First of all, he is a great fly-half but oh my, he embodies ‘dark, tall and handsome’!

A woman of much experience in the entertainment industry, Selma Kaulinge, currently MultiChoice Namibia’s public relations officer, has constantly showed nothing but support for the Welwitschias.

“Well, in my opinion, all the players on the Namibian Rugby team are hotties! But if have to choose just one from the pack, I will have to go with the mighty tackle machine, team captain Jacques Burger.

“The man is a force to be reckoned with. He is not afraid to put his body on the line, yet he has the caring side. When he is on the field you can see that he truly cares for his teammates,” Kaulinge said.

“Also, what can be hotter than a man who is not afraid to get bruised and broken for his country? The fact that he could have played for both England and South Africa but chose to represent the Land of the Brave, his home country Namibia, makes him that much hotter!”

Steffi is one lucky girl in this year. Still on cloud nine after being crowned Miss Namibia and getting to travel with the team on their trip to London for the RWC, Steffi is excited for her country and is wishing them nothing but success. So it is no surprise that, being the sister of one of the players in Namibia’s National Rugby team means that he would obviously be her first choice of a RWC hottie.

Most people know Roux-che Locke from her days as a television presenter on NBC. Today she rules the O L Group of companies as the group manager of External Affairs and other than her love for business, she’s a sports fanatic of note.

She names not one, but five hotties on her list of the most attractive Rugby World Cup players.
