Maasdorp to appear in court on Thursday

Wentzel Maasdorp who is accused of killing his girlfriend Delia Maasdorp (40), who was found dead on Sunday, will make his first appearance at the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Defence attorney Milton Engelbrecht will represent the accused.

According to sources close to the matter, the deceased’s vehicle was spotted in Mariental before he was arrested in Windhoek on Tuesday.

According to sources, the accused is related to the deceased’s ex-husband.

Police spokesperson Elifas Kuwinga this week reported that Delia Maasdorp’s parents tried to contact her on Friday, but could not find her, which resulted in them requesting one of her friends to check in on her.

The incident was reported to the police and a missing person report was filed.
The police accompanied the friend to Delia Maasdorp’s flat and communicated with the flat’s body corporate, which opened a window to enter the flat, Kuwinga said.

He also reported that police officers observed blood stains on a sofa in the flat.
