Ma /gaisa finale promises entertainment galore

Music lovers can gear themselves up for a spectacular show on Friday evening, when the finale of the Next Ma /Gaisa Star contest takes place at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) Backstage in Windhoek.

The event will not only see the eight finalists fighting it out for the grand prize, but there is also a line-up of some of the country’s most seasoned performers.

According to event organiser Stella !Naruses, top ma /gaisa stars like Oc Bulan, Patricia Ochurus, Ou Backos, Michael and Raphael & Pele will also be gracing the stage tonight.

“We all know what Oc Bulan is capable of. I think that you and I will agree that she is currently the hottest female ma /gaisa star around. You also can’t forget the golden voice of Patricia, who has now converted to gospel Music,” says !Naruses.

Season two winner Lourencious ‘Larcos’ Nanub will drop his debut album, ‘Los Die Damara In My’, on Friday night as well.

The three female finalists, Laticia ‘Nadine’ Urikhos (Swakopmund), Eunice ‘Latifa’ //Garoes (Rehoboth) and Shantal ‘Koekie Koek Kaisames’ Karongo (Henties Bay), will compete to become the first female Next Ma /Gaisa Star.

On the other hand, Erns ‘Wallace’ Willemse (Swakopmund), Queenton ‘Fortune’ Somaeb (Karibib), Lesley ‘Katzaofame’ Katzao (Rehoboth), Rodney ‘Scoopy Doo’ !Naibab (Windhoek) and Daniel ‘Ivotitage’ /Oxurub (Okahandja) will be hoping to maintain the male winning streak.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the impact the competition is starting to make on the local entertainment scene. The interest that the public has also shown this season has grown tenfold, and that is very overwhelming for us,” says !Naruses.

Welwitschia Music Production, which is partnered with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, the National Arts Council of Namibia and the NTN, announced that the final eight contestants were selected from a record-breaking pool of nearly 400 entries.
