More than 200 passengers faced luggage collection delays of up to four hours at Hosea Kutako International Airport on Friday.
This was due to the airport’s reclaim system being out of order, with the ground handling crew having to manually unload the luggage.
The four-hour delay has been confirmed by Jerome Romeboss, who operates a shuttle service.
“Everything was a mess, there were three flights that landed,” he says.
Romeboss says as a shuttle operator observing stranded passengers, he believes language barriers further contributed to the delay.
He adds that language barriers, especially for Angolan passengers, worsened the confusion.
“They should try to do things more efficiently and assist the clients with the help needed,” he adds.
