LPM’s Mootu ‘humbled’ to deputise parliament committee

Landless People’s Movement (LPM) parliamentarian Utaara Mootu says she is “humbled and honoured” to have been elected as deputy chairperson of the parliamentary standing committee on international relations, defence and security.

She deputises former Otjozondjupa governor-turned-lawmaker James Uerikua.

“This moment is not only a personal milestone, but a reflection of the trust placed in young, principled leadership. As a graduate committed to justice, human rights, and international cooperation, I step into this role with a deep sense of responsibility to champion inclusive diplomacy, advance Namibia’s voice on the global stage, and ensure our engagements are grounded in peace, accountability, and equity,” she said in parliament on Tuesday.
