Otjiwarongo-based Life Fighters FC have returned to the Namibia Premiership, after being crowned the North West Stream First Division League champions over the past weekend.

Life Fighters beat archrival Okakarara Young Warriors FC and Ongwediva City FC into second and third places, respectively, to clinch the coveted title.

The purple and white outfit garnered 43 points, six points ahead of Okakarara Young Warriors and ten ahead of Ongwediva City to book a place in the top flight league.

Speaking to Desert FM recently, Life Fighters spokesperson Harold Hamauka said the team went back to the drawing board when they were demoted.

“From the introspection point of view, we went to the drawing board. We set down and said okay, Life Fighters have been moving up and down, back and forth and that must stop going forward.

“So basically we worked on all those challenges and this time around we are more than ready,” stressed Hamauka.

“We will beef up the team by adding experience and flair and we will try by all means to lure sponsors and most definitely the 12th person element (supporters) to ensure that we are in the top flight football for good.”

Hamauka said that ‘Kahirona’ as Life Fighters are affectionately known, will try to sign players from within to up the game.

“What went wrong in the past, we came to realise that we sold our very top players but this time around we have manned our dressing room.”

He said that they have not just manned the dressing room but have looked at issues on and off the field as they try to maintain the relationship and the status quo.

“These boys have become a family and they are part of us and we talk on and off the field. If they want to leave we will certainly not close the door for them but obviously we will make sure that they stay,” he said.

“We have harmonised the conditions at Life Fighters FC, we have an open door policy and should these issues arise obviously we will address them as a family,” stressed Hamauka.

With many teams believed to rely entirely on the sponsorship grant, Life Fighters on the other hand hope to have an easy campaign by ensuring that supporters play a vital role in the upkeep of the team and lure substantive sponsors.

“We will see if we can get potential businesses on board so that they become corporate partners and sponsors.

“Certainly we will try to ensure we harmonise conditions and equally beef up the team with experience and make sure we keep our boys happy.

“The folklore of Life Fighters FC will go to the extreme to keep the team in the top flight league and never dare go back to the lower league again.”
