After being absent from music for quite some time, Namibian singer Martha Namundjebo, popularly known as Lady May Africa, has released a new single titled ‘Like A Phoenix’.
The single serves as a teaser of what to expect from her upcoming album.
It went live on all major platforms last Friday and listeners can access it on iTunes, Deezer, Qobuz, Tidal, JunoDownload, Beatport, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, YouTube and more.
The single was launched by Faluma, a Germany-based recording label.
“My team and I released ‘Like A Phoenix’ online for everyone around the globe to access immediately. It’s wonderful to see how platforms make music to reach everyone regardless of where they are,” Lady May Africa says.
She says ‘Like a Phoenix’ is an inspirational song featuring fellow musician Lvmu, who also produced the song.
Lady May Africa says the song is about change and determination as it gives hope to listeners to overcome life’s challenges.
“It isn’t just a song, but a motivational anthem to us all. This new single will inspire a lot of people to tap into power in their lives,” she says.
“All my fans and music lovers can expect a journey through different moods and styles [on my new album], with songs that are sweet to the ear.
“I’m excited to share the information on the full album soon. Many amazing, wonderful surprises are also on the way.”
Lady May Africa has been absent from the music scene since 2023, when she released her single, ‘Keredikeke’.
“Since then, I’ve been dedicating time to songwriting, collaborating with producers, and preparing this new album to offer something fresh, meaningful and super amazing.”
While working on new music, she says she has also been exploring new creative projects.
“All this time I have been busy collaborating with different artists, and developing concepts for my upcoming performances and videos.
“It was all about finding my passion again and trying out new sounds, styles and ideas that truly resonate with me.
“I’ve also been engaging more and interacting with my fans and exploring ways to bring back my music to life visually.”
Lady May Africa says her fans can expect fresh creative content under her brand.
“Live shows and multimedia ventures will follow, which complement the music,” she says.
The artist says her future plans include hosting a countywide tour, and collaborating with other artists.
“This includes launching the album and performing live shows. I’m also interested in expanding into visual storytelling through videos.”
Looking ahead, Lady May Africa wants to keep pushing creative boundaries and connecting with fans worldwide.
“There are exciting projects in the pipeline and I’m eager to share those experiences very soon.”
