Kinda Promotions will stage a boxing bonanza at the Wanderers Hall on 11 November.

None of the boxers are big names, while most are still inexperienced at professional level, but promoter Kinda Nangolo said he was grooming them step by step.

“These boxers might look new even though they stayed a long time in the amateur ranks, but I have no doubt that they can go far because they are young, talented and hard working,” he said.

“I try by all means to invest my money in upcoming young boxers. Boxers like Jonathan Kasheeta and Petrus Salom for example, I’m the one who turned them pro, and the same applies for Sakaria Kennedy and Nelson Malangu. These are boxers that I am grooming and that I’m investing in, because they are young and I want to take them far. I don’t want to rush them, but I want to take them to another level where they can put our country on the map,” he said.

In the main fight of the night, Kaleb Shitana takes on Youssouf Kasongo of the DR Congo in a cruiserweight fight over eight rounds. Shitana is still unbeaten after three fights, while Kasongo has a record of two wins, five losses and one draw.

In the main supporting bout Jonathan Kasheeta (2F, 1W, 1L) takes on Immanuel Moongela, who is making his pro debut, in a flyweight fight over six rounds.

Welterweight boxer Joseph Ampeya will make his pro debut against an opponent still to be announced, while Petrus Salom (5F, 4W, 1D) will be in action in a super featherweight fight against an opponent still to be named.

Sakaria Kennedy, who has won his only pro fight to date, will take on an opponent still to be named in a super featherweight fight over four rounds; Nelson Malangu (2F, 2W) will take on Samuel Mwatumbange, who is making his pro debut in a bantamweight fight over four rounds; and in a fight where both boxers will make their pro debuts, Paulus Benny will take on Heita Johannes in a featherweight fight over four rounds.

Johannes said he was looking forward to his fight.

“I’m quite excited about the fight and I’m ready as well. It’s my first professional fight, but I’m not really nervous – I’ve done this sport before so now I’m just trying to improve and be more committed to it as well,” he said.

“I previously fought as an amateur, but I was still young then. I started at a young age and left the sport, but I’m back and now I just want to show the talent and skills of the Black Diamond,” he added.

“I know I can take this far, I know I’ve got the skills and I am talented as well. I was the best junior boxer in the Erongo region that time, so I know I can still do a lot in the sport,” he said.

Nangolo said that the venue had already been booked, although ticket sales still have to be finalised and will be made known in due course. Kinda can be contacted at 0812486112.
