ON Monday, the German embassy in Namibia donated boxing equipment to the Kilimanjaro Boxing Club in Oshakati.
The Kilimanjaro Boxing Club currently trains 38 boxers, of which 36 are amateurs and two professionals. As the club places emphasis on youth development, the donated material was especially earmarked for the youth section of the club.The director and founder of the Kilimanjaro Boxing Club, Joseph Benhard, is the former 1992 – 2001 Namibian Boxing Champion, who represented Namibia at various international sport events, with the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996 being one of the highlights.The donation by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office was made within the framework of its sports promotion programme which supports the development of sport in Namibia by, amongst others, seconding sport experts, donating sport equipment and offering training courses for coaches at various sport schools and universities in Germany.
