CHILDREN younger than ten years will get going on their iron horses when Cycletec Adventure Centre hosts the ‘Kidz on Bikez Adventure’ in conjunction with Bank Windhoek’s Kidz Fun Fair.

The much-anticipated event will take place on Saturday at the SKW Sport Grounds in Windhoek under the banner ‘Bring the Colours of Spring’.According to the owners of Cycletec, Frank Bombosch and Patrick de Goede, categories will start from the tender age of under-3 up to under-10. In each category, competitors will have to complete different distances, with the under-10s having to tackle a full 3,5 km. Bombosch said the initiative stems from the fact that Windhoek has no controlled and safe riding places for kiddies, except maybe their own backyards. ‘Cycletec wants to put a fun day on the calendar just for these young kids, and safety and properly marked routes will guide them through a hopefully unforgettable experience. ‘They will not just be able to get cracking on a proper course, but will also better their developing skills and get a first taste of competitiveness. All will be done in the spirit of good, clean fun in the outdoors and to remind everyone that spring is in the air.’ Bombosch said to honour the toddlers, Cycletec will hand out a special certificate to each and every competitor. He also encouraged parents to take part when their children will join the cycle clown for the bicycle dance and a stage walk at 11h45. The racing will start at 10h30.Bombosch stressed that the routes will be secured with bunting tape and are absolutely safe. Parents will be allowed to assist their children during the race, and lots of shade will be available along the course. For more information and to enter, contact Cycletec at 061 244 324, or visit www.cycletec.com.na
