THE Bank Windhoek Kehat Beukes Legacy Chess Tournament is an annual event hosted during the month of December in honour of the late doctor Kehat Beukes, a Namibian surgeon who was president of the Namibia Chess Federation from 1994 until his passing in December 1999.

Chess being one of his many passions, he founded the oldest and longest running Namibian chess tournament in 1994, originally named the Swakopmund Open Chess Tournament and later renamed in his honour subsequent to his passing.

This year, the tournament will be held on Saturday, 16 December and Sunday, 17 December, at the Swakopmund municipal training centre.

The light holiday tournament is open to all age groups and consists of a nine round Swiss system played over two days, sporting attractive prizes for participants.

To register, players can email their full names, date of birth (only for youth players, those under 18 and younger) to charleseichab@yahoo.com

The entrance fee is N$80 for seniors and N$50 for youths born after 31 December 2004.
