THE 2009 annual Kapuka Schools’ Sports Tournament winds up its activities at the Namundjebo Sports Ground this Saturday.
The mentor of the tournament, Sammy Mushelenga yesterday said the tournament will continue with its outstanding semi-finals and finals in both boys’ and girls’ football championships.The Ongha Senior Secondary School (SSS) from the Ohangwena region is already in the final of the boys’ football contest, waiting for the winner of the semi-final game to be played on Saturday between Haimbili Haufiku SSS and Mweshipandeka SSS near the Omafo community centre of the Helao Nafidi town in Ohangwena.Haimbili Haufiku SSS is from Eenhana town, also in the Ohangwena region, while Mweshipandeka SSS is from Ongwediva town in the Oshana region.The two semi-final matches for schoolgirls in football will be played between Eleven Stars FC vs Oshakati Youth FC, and Elao Primary School vs Weyulu Primary School.The finals in the other sports codes such as boxing, netball, volleyball and basketball took place on the 21st of last month.The winners of these sport disciplines were Shondili Mshasho Boxing Academy (boxing), Namibia Defence Force-Windhoek (volleyball clubs), Ongha SSS (volleyball boys), Six Stars (volleyball: girls), Ongha SSS (netball), Leopard (basketball: boys) and Tigers (basketball: girls).The winners and runners-up in each of the tournament’s sports codes will be awarded floating trophies and medals (gold, silver and bronze), Mushelenga said.- Nampa
