KAAP Agrimark, a retailer selling agricultural hardware and household goods, has opened its tenth branch in the country at Keetmanshoop.
At the official opening of the shop on Thursday, Karas governor Bernardus Swartbooi welcomed the retailer in the region. He discouraged the formation of monopolies by a few individuals denying others the chance to do business.’Monopolies and oligarchies often hold authorities to ransom. That must not be allowed in this region. Economic transformation should be broad based,’ Swartbooi said. He urged the retailer’s leaders to become part of regional development and transformation. ‘You have significant corporate resources to leverage for Karas Region’s development and transformation. You could support training of one agriculture technician at one of the Southern Africa’s institutions,’ he added Kaap Agrimark MD Korwyn Botha said the shop would focus on serving the farming sector.
