Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a complaint that Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber roughed up a man who was taking pictures of the performer at a suburban shopping centre, police said on Monday.
Deputies were called on Sunday to an outdoor shopping area in Calabasas, about 23 miles northwest of Hollywood, by a man who reported having just had an altercation with Bieber, the sheriff’s department said in a press statement. The ‘Boyfriend’ singer had a run in with a photographer on 27 May, and the case is being referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for possible criminal prosecution.Website TMZ says the police have decided to refer the case to prosecutors even though their investigations are not complete, a fairly common practice in high profile cases. If Justin were charged and convicted of criminal battery, he could face up to six months in jail. Police also want to speak to Justin, 18, about the incident, but he is currently in Norway. -Various online sources
