JS Academy still on top of Super League

JS ACADEMY are still leading the Women’s Super League (WSL) despite a poor showing in their 0-0 draw against fifth placed 21 BDE United on Saturday.

Academy did not concede a goal in their first match without coach Jeremy Zimmer who recently signed with Namibian Premiership side Civics as assistant coach.They have 10 points after winning three of their four matches thus far.Okahandja Beauties remain second with nine points on the log after their 28-0 thrashing of Challengers.Beauties managed a strong comeback after their 2-1 loss to JS Academy last week.Both JS Academy and Beauties’ positions are under threat from third placed Poly Babes who are third on the log with the same number of points.Poly moved up to third from fourth after they played and won both of their matches played this weekend. They beat arch rivals Unam Bokkies 2-1 on Saturday and then on Sunday they beat 21 BDE United 5-0.Unam moved one place down to fourth after the loss. They have six points after two wins and two losses.Unam will play their next match on Tuesday against Beauties at 17h00 at Unam Stadium.The match which had originally been scheduled for August 27 will be played earlier because Unam will be on their Spring Break from Thursday.The army side, 21 BDE United finally earned points after their draw to JS Academy. They however remain fifth on the log with one point after they lost three of their matches so far.At the bottom of the log are Challengers who have lost all four of their matches and remain on zero points.Challengers will play their next match on Thursday against 21 BDE United at the El Dorado Soccer Field at 14h00.Zenatha Coleman continues to lead the top goalscorers’ list despite having only played two matches for JS Academy before she left for trials at German club, Borussia Bocholt two weeks ago.She has netted in a total of 12 goals and is followed by Juliana Skrywer of Beauties and Lorraine Jossob from Poly with 10 goals each.Salome Iyambo and Kleintjie Fredericks are fourth and fifth with eight and six goals respectively.- namibiasport.com.na
