Johan Jacobs and Elzaan de Vries have taken the lead at the Champion of Champions Bowling tournament in Tsumeb at the end of Saturday’s play.
Jacobs of Trustco United Bowling Club leads the men’s competition with 3 points after winning his opening three matches.
He beat Christo Steenkamp of Tsumeb 21-16; Waylon Wentzel of Eros Bowling Club 21-6, and Axel Krahenbuhl 21-8.
Gordon Damster of Namib Park Bowling Club is second on 2 points and a shot aggregate of 23; Wentzel on 2 points and a shot aggregate of 3; and Krahenbuhl on 2 points and an aggregate of 2.
Christo Steenkamp of Tsumeb Bowling Club and Gerd Koekemoer of Windhoek Bowling Club must still open their accounts.
De Vries leads the women’s competition with 2 points after two wins from three matches and a shot aggregate of 23.
She beat Huipie van Wyk of Trustco United Bowling Club 21-15 and Amanda Steenkamp of Eros Bowling Club 21-0, but lost 21-17 to Abby Grundeling of Namib Park Bowling Club.
Steenkamp is second on 2 points and an aggregate of -8, while Grundeling is third on 2 points and a -10 aggregate.
They are followed by Diana Viljoen of Swakopmund Bowling Club, Huipie van Wyk, and Truda Meaden of Windhoek Bowling Club on 1 point each.
