IPC remains strong despite resignations, says party

The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) says it remains strong despite the resignation of four of its members yesterday, citing internal grievances.

IPC spokesperson Imms Nashinge says the party continues to function and is focused on its vision of accountability and patriotism.

He describes the resignations as inconsequential to the party’s broader mission.

“We still have plenty of members left to govern with transparency, accountability, patriotism and grace,” he says.

Nashinge confirms that the party received the resignation letters via WhatsApp and advises the former members to follow formal procedures by resigning through the branches they initially joined.

He emphasises that the party leadership will accept the resignations without animosity.

“Four versus many Namibians joining IPC every day? We really wish them well. It’s their democratic right to make whatever decision,” he says.

The four members who resigned are Kristofina Ashfield, Kathy Mandeinge, Oscar Johannes and Karen Janecki. In a letter addressed to IPC’s secretary general, the group cited favouritism, gossip and a lack of transparency within the leadership as their reasons for leaving.

Nashinge maintains that the party is not in crisis and that its focus remains on growing its support base and achieving electoral success.
