International trade expo opens at Swakop

During their opening addresses, both presidents acknowledged the strong political history between the two nations, as well as the present and future business relationship.

“We can strengthen our ties by working and not just talking. Both countries have to help realise each other’s ideals and initiatives that are not just beneficial to each other, but to the continent,” said Hichilema.

The theme for this year’s expo is ‘Towards a Shared Economic Vision – Our Shared Destiny’.

Geingob said the expo plays a significant role in promoting co-operation and economic integration.

Geingob said Namibia and Zambia can use the platform to advance bilateral relations, most specifically trade and investment, into a new era of enhanced cooperation.

The expo will consist of a Zambia-Namibia business seminar, panel discussions on inclusivity of trade and investment; resilience-based approaches to strengthen regional tourism supply chains and foster cross-sectoral collaboration; customs and corridors efficiency in facilitating trade and cooperating to grow businesses through sustainable energy investments.
