AS expected, Tigers captain Absalom Iimbondi won the MTC Premiership Player of the Season and Players ‘ Player of th Season prizes at the season ending Namibia Premier League awards function in Windhoek on Friday.
Iimbondi beat teammate Ferdinand Karongee and Black Africa ‘s Dynamo Fredericks to the N$30 000 top award, while fellow players also voted for the hard working midfielder as the best player of the 2015 16 campaign ahead of Karongee and Orlando Pirates ‘ Terdius Uiseb, who received N$15 000 for finishing as the league ‘s top scorer with 17 goals.
The Players ‘ Player of the Season prize has a value of N$20 000. Iimbondi and his three compatriots all missed the reception as they are part of the Brave Warriors squad that has set up camp in Ghana ahead of the Cosafa Cup.
On top of being confirmed the N$1 million league title winners, Tigers coach Brain Isaacs also walked away with the N$20 000 Coach of the Season award.
Black Africa collected their N$600 000 second place winnings, with Tura Magic rewarded with half that amount for third place, while deposed champions African Stars got a consolatory N$100 000 for ending fourth.
The N$30 000 Chairman ‘s Award was split for the third successive season, as Johnny Do euml;seb chose African Stars ‘ long serving team manager Lesley Kozonguizi and the Swallows Football Academy as worthy recipients.
Promising Civics starlet Donald Eiseb walked away with N$5 000 voucher from OTB Sport for winning the Young Player of the Season Award.
Alpheus Shipanga took the top assistant referee prize worth N$5 000, with Leston Nangombe getting N$10 000 for the best referee award.
Diehard football supporter Robbie Savage won the Supporter of the Season award to the value of N$10 000.
